Food Parcels VentureJan Addison and Andy met with the heart to seek to move the food parcels to Kadoma venture on. As you know Jan has had some good success in this and we feel it is time to test the possibility further having had no other door open food aid wise, having hoped something might have been plausible through Samaritans Purse although we have now made contact with Smile. A plan of action which will 'test' this as a viable means. We would
like to parcel up 15 packages of suitable food stuffs to send with
Cornerstone funding. We envisage things happening like this: 1) This end: gathering the Cornerstone Team who went to Kadoma to buy food stuffs and wrap up packages on the 2 March. Jan will then take them for posting to Zim. 2) At Kadoma end we are in contact with Churches Lay Committee who will act as a receivers. We hope to initially send 5 packages to 5 addresses of the committee over a three week course. The contents of each parcel, when sent etc so that a stock check can be made and fed back to us what arrived. 3) The parcels will weigh up to 2Kg - not much I know, but will contain such things as pasta, rice, flour, oil . Postage will cost about £11 per package. With the food cost that's about £15 per pack. If the feed back is good by April, we would want to go wider and encourage the churches town wide to send foodstuffs, based on our results, with Cornerstone gathering here and the lay committee in Kadoma distributing. We would put an 'explanation' package / presentation together to enable this. In tandem, but separate from this, the Team will be sending a letter to the 250 or so school children who gave us their addresses. We will do this as an encouragement, letting them know that we think and pray for them. |
